No place on earth is based on a true story when this man called Chris Nicola had investigated and discovered that caves were used by Jews to escape the holocaust, he then was set out to find survivors and then the film "No place on earth" was released based on Chris Nicola's experience. The film was presented about a guy exploring the cave, he found many objects which belonged to people in Ukraine. Ukraine became the most harmful and unsafe place for Jews to live in, there lives were at risks with having wars yet nearly everyday. They then decided to live inside the cave, but even after this they still had many people coming in to shoot them they suffered a miserable at that era with no food or water or even a stable and safe place to live under in.

The Conjuring is based on a true story about a haunted house, and how it is possessed. The conventions used in this particular real life based story line is showing the use of having Close ups of the character in the film, this is very effective for the viewers to watch as they get the feel as to how the characters are feeling on screen through their expression and tone of voice this is clearly shown at 0:53 when you see the little girl screaming out of fright and seeing her face with shocked her for life. The editing montage is very clear to understand in this movie as everything happens step by step the tension builds in slowly. This shows a clear understanding to the viewers as to what the story line is of this movie and also awaits the viewers as to not knowing what is happening next it builds suspense and tension for the viewers, which makes it a successful movie enjoyed by many viewers through the different conventions used.  The camera language used is many mid shots of the characters involved in the film. The long shots in the film gives the audience an idea of how it feels and makes the viewers feel part of it, in 1:04 you see the full view of the haunted house with big trees everywhere in front this builds tension and suspense as the viewers want to find out what is going to happen next in the movie. The sound used in this trailer is very deep voice of the man talking, very creepy sounds, and and high sounds of glass falling and the girl screaming from her lungs, this builds suspense and tension for the viewers as they want to know what is going to happen and they feel part of the film, The loud abrupt sound is shown at 0:50 where the girl screams out of her lungs and also there after the glass frames come trembling down the stairs. The video creates suspense for our viewers through the lighting as the camera lighting is very dark and dull atmosphere, this makes it more interesting for the viewers to watch as they want to watch on and see what happens.

UK border force is about the people who are found in the UK who are not meant to be, as they have no Visa or British passport, police officers thereafter go and search for these people and bring them in to have an interview or be sent back to their home country. The conventions used in this particular shows real footage of people being caught, this allows the viewers to get an insight of what exactly is happening and to see the peoples reactions after they have been caught. A clear convention which is noticed is the voice over used, there is not a main presenter for this show, its a middle aged English man with a clear voice speaking throughout, this makes it more interesting for the viewers to watch as we get to see full reaction of what is exactly happening and what consequences the people will face in the video at 5:52 we see the officer talking to the victim and the victim is very scared and almost has tears in his eyes, he wants to prove himself as innocent. Another convention which is used in the video is the use of archive footage where we get to see real footage of the people being caught and how shocked and upset they are, some people show attitude and talk back to the officers, others don't want to admit what they have done wrong but stay quiet when the officers speak, some try and prove their point no matter what the archive footage is shown at 23:45 in the video where you see a close up of the victim and how dejected he is feeling. Another convention which i have noticed is interviews, officers in the airport interview the people as to why they have done this and what made them take this step, it is real situations which has happened. This makes it interesting for the viewer as they personally know why they have done it, this makes it more realistic of what and why this is happening. The camera language used is a variety of shots but what is mostly used is close up, mid shots and shot reverse shots. These shots makes it interesting and enjoyable for the audience to watch and it goes in pace with a story line being told, the cuts from the shot to another, make easier for the viewers to understand what is happening. We see a clear shot reverse shot from 0:14-0:16 when the officer talks to the officer and it cuts from one person to another and then back to the main person who interviewed the victim

X factor is a television show which is based on pure entertainment, it is about people coming in to audition on their singing skills and thereafter the judges decide whether they are in or not. It finally after reaches the finals after many performances and one out of all of them is the winner. The conventions used in this particular show is segmented in the sub genre of infotainment as this show gives background detail of the contestants and also is based on pure entertainment as they sing to the judges and the audience and viewers. This show does have presenters who make it more interesting for the audience to watch as they introduce the contestant very well and also play a huge role in entertaining the audience with funny jokes this is shown at  etc.  It also shows exactly how the contestant is feeling before the show as the girl talks about how nervous she is and how she has never done a big performance to a huge range of audience in front of her, watching her singing. This gives an insight to the viewers of how the girl is exactly feeling and makes it more interesting as viewers to watch. The editing montage and the way it has been framed is very professionalized this is through the use of slow pace of editing and the use of cuts between different shots, it also goes in order where first the girl sings and thereafter the judges comment, this is shown at 6:50 where she finishes singing and thereafter everyone claps and cheers for her and finally the judges comment, this all has a nice flow, which makes it understandable for the audience and they feel part of the show when the audience cheers. Another convention used is the use of music, X factor is all about music, as people come on to the show and sing, a segment 4:12-6:50 where it is pure music as the girl is singing and also in the background there is piano incidental music is being played. The camera language use is mostly close ups and mid shots, this make it interesting for the audience to watch as they can relate to it, by feeling part of the show, and also because they can see the nervous feel on the contestants and expressions of the judges as to whether they liked listening to her or not.

The only way is Essex is a reality show, shown on TV where it is real people having situations which has been slightly modified and put up on TV to entertain the audience, and so it is filmed just a few days before, this show is not scripted. The conventions which are used in this particular show is the slow pace of editing this allows the viewers to see exactly what is happening on screen as it cuts slowly from the woman to the man showing the characters expressions and reactions to the opposite person who is speaking this clearly shown in the video from 0:11-0:13 where it cuts from the man to the woman. The editing pace allows the viewers to see the trials and tribulations which are faced in only way is Essex and which is reality, break ups is a major thing which does occur in a relationship between a girlfriend and boyfriend as the pace is very slow, and cuts from one shot to another making it relate back to the audience so it is easier for them to understand as to what is happening on screen. This also allows the viewers to engage as these are real life situations which people could be facing. Another convention which i feel is in the only way is Essex is it being biased, we only hear one side of the story, we get to hear why the woman is dumping the man, but we don't get to hear what fault the man has or why he is being dumped so this show can be biased most of the time. The camera language used is close ups and mid shots of the man throughout the whole video, this makes it interesting for the audience to watch as they can see clearly the facial expressions of the two characters and how they react when the other person speaks in the video we clearly see this 0:28 where there is a close up of the mans face feeling angry and annoyed. The use of close ups makes it enjoyable to the audience as they know exactly how each characters feeling, and it makes the audience feel part of it.

The conventions which are used in this particular cooking show is, teaching the audience how to cook meals within 30 minutes, it is educating the audience on how to cook a vegetable lasagne in time limit of 30 minutes. In the beginning of the video it does have incidental music before the show actually teaches something this is shown from 0:05-0:22 where in the video you can hear the incidental music. which makes it interesting for the viewers to wait and watch how they could make the recipe within the time limit of 30 minutes and how Jamie the chef does it within 30 minutes. the music matches exactly with the show exact, the beats exactly explain what is going to be shown in the video. Another convention is the use of having a presenter as he himself shows how to cook it and also gives information on what he is doing every step of the way, this makes the audience want to watch his shows more, because he is very clear and is very easy for the audience to understand as to what he is doing and how he is doing. The editing montage used in this specific show is very slow pace, this is good as it shows slowly on what he is doing, as this show is all about the audience to understand on how to cook a vegetable lasagne within the time limit of 30 minutes. It also is shown with a lot of guidance with the presenter giving full detail as to what is happening on screen, and how he is doing the vegetable lasagne and also is filmed step by step by first for example heating the pan with the oil and thereafter cooking the asparagus in it after cutting it up this is shown at 0:20-0:21 where the man puts olive oil into the man and then puts in the asparagus to cook it.

This is a nature documentary on grizzly bears vs wolves. This documentary gives an insight as to how the grizzly bears fight with the wolves, and wolves try to make the grizzly bears their predator. But this however does not works grizzly bears are much larger in terms or weight than the wolves. The conventions which are used in this wildlife documentary specifically is the use of voice over, there is no presenter in this, there is a clear voice of white male English middle classed man talking, his voice matches what is happening onscreen as his voice is strong and deep. This is clearly heard at 0:63 where we hear the voice over talking about what is happening on screen by showing the grizzly bears being threatened by the wolves, and how the wolves cannot insist in fighting with the grizzly bears. The close ups of the grizzly bears and wolves makes it interesting for the viewers to watch as it makes them feel part of what is happening, and knowing exactly both animals expressions and noises they make. Another convention which is clearly noticed is the use of archive footage, this makes it more realistic for the viewers to believe what the animals are doing is true and that they are not mislead. Also the real footage makes it enjoyable for the viewers to be part of what is happening on screen, we also get a feel that what is shown has really happened and that it is true, it makes the audience believe that there is many intricate things which are fascinating in the world. The camera language used in this particular show is the use panning, and zooming in to the grizzly bears. The presenters make it enjoyable for the viewers as they are kept entertained, and also give full detail of what is happening on screen, they also play a huge role on screen as they make the viewers clearly understand what exactly is happening on screen. You clearly see the presenter of the show at 1:15 where the presenter comes into the studio warmly welcomed by his audience through the claps and cheers. Another convention which is presented in the Jeremy Kyle show knowing that this show can be very biased as it only gets answers from one persons view, we don't get an answer from the other side, so you don't know if they are telling the truth or not. The conventions used in this particular show, is firstly there is a clear presenter throughout the whole series of this show is firstly the use of the main character which is the Presenter Jonathan Ross, he plays a huge role as he keeps the viewers entertained through his funny jokes and funny actions which he does on screen in the studio this is shown in the beginning on the show where he entertains the viewers by wearing a belt that has a tail and makes the audience laugh this is shown at 0:55 where the presenter is wearing the belt. Another convention how the show has been framed with many close ups of the guests that come on show and long shots of the guests doing the different activities on the show, this makes it engaging for the audience as they can see clearly the expressions of the celebrities and how they are feeling coming on to the show, generally seeing them on a chat show, as they are famous celebrities which have taken time out from their busy schedules for their fans. The editing montage used in the Jonathan Ross show is very slow in pace and cuts from shot to shot very slowly making sure that the audience capture every bit of expression from the celebrity guest to the presenter and also the audience at the back in the studio this is clearly shown at 3:57-3:60 where we see the presenter talking to nicole scherzinger and it cuts from the presenter to her slowly so it makes it more interesting for the audeince to watch the show as they feel part of the show and get to see every little expression of the guest that has come into the studio.

This show is based for men taking on challenge of eating large quantities of the same food. The conventions which are shown in this episode of man v food is firstly a convention which you notice straight away is the having a main presenter hosting the show, he voice is very deep and manly which makes the show more target for a masculine audience which goes exactly with the whole show as it is about men who are on to take the challenge so the presenter goes very well with the theme happening in the show, the presenter is clearly shown at 0:23 where we see the presenter standing behind large quantities of milkshakes in huge glasses, we know that these quantities of milkshake are very large as it covers the top part of the presenter showing only his face. As this show is all about how men can eat big quantities of food in one go or different eating challenges. So we straight away know that the target audience is aimed for males. The editing montage i feel is as though it is at a quite a fast pace as all the shots cut very quickly we don't get to see the shots as long enough, i feel this relates to what the show is about, eating large quantities of food as fast as you can. The target audience can relate to this as i feel is trying to portray and encourage people to take up challenges and not to be scared of it, It also interests the audience through the fast pace shots as they part of the challenge. The close ups of the men eating the food and the food itself creates a meaning as we can see that the quantity of food is very large and how the men struggle at the end to finish off what they are eating. The viewers feel as though they are part of the show, they can see the expressions of the men taking on the challenge and you can see the different types of food they are challenged to eat through the use of the close ups of the food this is shown at 8:10 where we see the fod that they challenged to eat and the amount of quantity being challenged to eat.

The conventions which are shown in this episode of Grand designs is firstly the use of having a main presenter hosting the show it makes is easier for the viewers to understand what is happening within the show, and gives us full detail as to what is going to happening throughout the show, the main presenter is shown as entertainment to the audience as they gain most interest from the presenter as that is the person who gives out most detail as to what is happening and how it going to happen, and also gives an insight as which location they are doing the makeover at. In the beginning at 0:01 of the video we straight away get introduced and started off with the presenter talking. Another convention which i have noticed within this episode of grand designs is the having the camera following the presenter, with making the camera being shaky, this makes it interesting for the viewers as they want to know where the camera will head to and where the presenter is going this is shown at 0:14 where we clearly see the camera tracking the presenter, this it easier for the audience to believe that whatever is happening on screen is real as the camera shakes a little when it tracks the presenter and the audience thereafter know that they are not being mislead with false shots within the show. Another convention which i feel is editing montage is very slow, making sure that the audience see every intricate make of the new transformation and seeing everything in detail.

The four main presenter are shown clearly in the video at 0:50. The viewers feel interested in wanting to watch the show on as the presenters make it more humorous and pick up funny topics and jokes which entertain the viewers as well as the celebrity, because there are four presenters they take turns in speaking and make some humorous and funny jokes which makes the audience laugh, the audience also get a feel of different tones of voice, various age range from the four different women. This is a first show that i can think which has four presenter, most shows only have one or two but here on loose women there are four, so it is interests me as a viewer. Another convention which is clearly noticed is the use of archive footage in the show, this makes it more effective and enjoyable for the viewers as they know what is being said n screen is true, because there is proof of real footage so everything said is mostly true this is shown in the video at 0:45 where we see real footage of the girl acting in coronation street. Also the girl being interviewed is someone who has experienced something in life, she is an actor on a series called the coronation street, which they are portraying in order to show how she acts in the particular show, and her experience of acting on that show, and seeing overall how she is as a person in real life. Loose women has been famed very professionally and clearly with the use of many close ups and mid shots of the four presenters and the guest, this makes effective for our audeince to carry on watching at they feel interested in seeing the facial expressions and hand gestures of the guest and the presenter.
