Content: The information which i will be including within my documentary is firstly answering my main key question which is how faith school differs from a state school so i will be portraying how a faith school, so going back into my secondary school (Azhar Academy) and showing you an insight of the school itself. I will thereafter aim to interview a student studying at Azhar academy and former student who has left Azhar academy, this will make my documentary interesting and enjoyable as i will engage my target audience by having different people talking about their experience. I also hope to interview an islamic studies teacher to give you a real insight of why faith school is different to a sate school. But to keep my documentary fair i will not try to make state schools as a negative effect but i will portray it through getting people to talk about their experience for example having a student studying at Chadwell Heath Academy, i also hope to get the head teacher of Chadwell heath academy to talk about the school and the positive impact students have had to make the school become to where it has become. Lastly the end of the documentary i will be including my own experience in going to faith school into a state school and the hardships i have faced but also the amazing people i have met during my faith school and state school.
Target Audience: My target audience for my documentary is targeted for all males and females aged between 18-24 year olds. As my documentary is based on muslim faith schools, and makes my target audience very niche, i aim to make it appeal to a wide range of my target audience by making it aim to all ethnic groups/ nationality and colour as i will show the other side of he argument within my documentary, by showing state school students of different ethnic groups/ colour, in order to make it appeal to a wide range of my target audience. I think my documentary topic will appeal to my target audience as it focuses on the youth, as it is about schools and education which my target audience are currently doing as they will either be in college, University or working. I think my documentary is something that is very different and unique and it will engage my target audience as they may want to know how it is to be educated within a faith school, and could relate to this more than any anyone else as they because they have done there secondary years and know how it is like.
Format: The documentary mode which I feel looks closely to my documentary topic is participatory mode this is because most of my interview will focus on showing the building itself and going around while I am in front of the camera explaining in detail, by me being in front of the camera in this situation will give an insight more on how school life is like in a faith, girls school. As I have experienced my secondary years in going to that same school (Azhar Academy), so I will have a lot of knowledge from before hand. By me standing in front of the camera it will interest and make my target audience believe in what I am saying and they will not misunderstand me. I will also be portraying how a private girls school atmosphere is like compared to a state school environment. I will aim to make my documentary on the positive effects of a private school but I may also include the negative to make it fair, and also make my audience understand more well my topic chosen. I think participatory mode is best suitable to my documentary as it will make my target audience understand what i am trying to get across but also try to engage my target audience through being in front of the camera.
Style: The styles which i will be portraying within my documentary is firstly the camera work which i will be using is a variety of close ups and mid shots as i feel this will suit my documentary in terms of engaging my target audience as close ups and mid shots get the expressions of what is being told. Most of my documentary will be based on having mid shots and close ups, whereas when doing interviews i will use over the shoulder shots, to make it more creative but also have cut-in to keep my target audience engaged i also will use noddy shots when listening to the people who i will be interviewing in order to show my target audience that i myself have keen interest and passion into my documentary topic. Lastly I also will be using establishing shot when showing my faith school as it will complete my documentary and my target audience will be able to get full view of the faith school (Azhar Academy). The close ups and mid shots which i want to portray are similar to supersize me as throughout super size me it uses close ups and mid shots the close ups are clearly shown at 2:13. Although in some areas i may use long shots to show the full insight for example when inside the faith school. The graphics that i will be using in my documentary is when i will be introducing the people participating in my documentary, and also when showing the faith school and state school. Lastly the music which i will be including within my documentary is religious islamic piano music (maher zain) for the faith school segment and for the state school segment i will be using Chris Brown as this is a music artist which most students listen to in secondary school.
